قَسْوَةُ القَلْب

Qaswat al-Qalb

Door 2 · 7 days

One of three roads after Door 1. You walk the one you choose. See all three

Qaswat al-Qalb is a heart that hardens, so nothing moves it.

A hard heart

Door 2 · Day 1

You pray. You hear the Quran.

But nothing moves inside.

The Quran speaks of hearts that harden. This is qaswat al-qalb.

What about the one whose heart God has opened in devotion to Him, so that he walks in light from his Lord? Alas for those whose hearts harden at the mention of God! They have clearly lost their way.

Az-Zumar 39:22 · Abdel Haleem

Al-Sa'di explains “hearts harden”: they don't soften to His Book, don't take His ayat to heart, and find no rest in His remembrance. Saying Alhamdulillah for one blessing is Sayqal's suggestion.

Your step

Right now, think of one blessing from today. Just one.

Say Alhamdulillah for it, slowly.

The seven days

Every day, one small step. Two or three minutes.

  1. Day 1Nothing moves
  2. Day 2When it got hard
  3. Day 3Is it not time?
  4. Day 4Harder than rock
  5. Day 5Dead land, brought back
  6. Day 6Again and again
  7. Day 7Looking back

One question a day

Door 2 · Day 1

Today, when did your heart feel the hardest?

  • Rushing through salah
  • Scrolling my phone
  • Lost in worries
  • Upset with someone

This stays on your phone.

On Day 7, all your answers come back to you.

After 7 days

You'll notice what makes your heart soft, and what makes it hard.

Now you know what hardens yours the most. This line stays next to Qaswat al-Qalb on your road.
